Fuel Cell Foam Or No Foam

Well first of all all oem tanks are baffled.

Fuel cell foam or no foam.

I ran that cell from 1989 2000 without any signs of the foam breaking down. I have no experience with fuel cells but i would imagine for a street car you would absolutely need the foam. Fuel cell drag racing 5 gallons w sump raised plastic cap 8 an inlet outlet fittings w o foam gas alcohol methanol each 1 part number. A full tank of fuel weights about 120 pounds.

The foam takes up a small volume of the fuel cell so it doesn t change the capacity of the fuel cell by very much. Some fuels will also do this if you let it sit to long in the cell. The foam degrading is from running the tank cell empty and letting the foam dry out. The function most people know is that the foam keeps fuel from sloshing around in the turns.

Otherwise you would literally have fuel flowing out the filler neck on a turn. When i redid the car in 2000 i bought a summit drag cell also full foam. Do i need the foam on the street. Full foam fuel safe circle track cell.

The foam is still in good condition and doesn t show signs of breaking down afer 8 years. I have always had the foam in my fuel cells because i run it on the street too but with all the trouble i m having i m looking to eliminate any potential problems.
