Gap Between Shower Floor And Wall Tile

The tile council of north america recommends at least a quarter inch gap between the tile floor and the walls.

So to accommodate the flooring tile many like to leave a small gap between the last row of wall tile and floor. Similar to the gap that can exist between your wall tile and tub you may have a space between the floor and your bathtub. By the way we highly recommend tiling the main shower wall then the side walls. Instead fill it with an elastic material capable of sustaining the movement of the floor and the movement of the wall.

Leaving a 1 16 gap between the tub and tile will prevent the tile from cracking when the tub expands.
